Filed under the category of “one of a handful of alcohol-based products I’ll probably never use” is Whipped Lightning aka whipahol, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: whipped cream infused with the unbridled fury of nature’s electricity alcohol.

Weighing in at 36 proof, which is higher than I’d expect, the whipped drink topping will initially be offered in four different flavors: Amaretto, Cinnamon, Macadamia, and Orange.  Aimed to float atop the multi-colored drinks of  middle-aged divorcees and elementary school teachers on their biannual Girls Night Out* it should be entering the market at around $10 a canister in Florida and Tennessee.

Honestly I think they’re marketing it all wrong.  They should really be aiming this at adult stores and soft-core crap-peddlers like Spencer’s Gifts (those still exist, right?).  I mean, think about putting a drink that uses this on your menu, what is it going to say?  “Sex on the Beach…oh, but it also has this alcohol-infused whipped cream on top that makes it better (Sexier on the Beach?) which is why we are charging $2 more for it”?  OR do you stick it on a shelf at the local smutvendor where someone walks by, sees whipped cream… flavors… alcohol… “Yup, I’d lick this” and BOOM, a lifelong customer is born.  It’s a no-brainer.

  1. You can add your own alcohol tastes to whipped cream if you make it yourself. The stuff in a can is bound to be full of chemicals that have nothing to do with food. I think this stuff in a can business is taking off – I saw yesterday that at the food convention in Paris this year, sauces in an aersol format are the big deal. Just spray it on. Gross!

that’s scary…wonder what kind of god-awful disease we’ll get from that down the road

  3. Mr. Vegas says:

I dont think that “Whipped Lightning” is the first alcohol infused whipped cream.
I have been purchasing Whipps Cream, The original alcohol infused whipped cream for almost 2 years. I believe Whipps Cream has been around for almost 4 years or so.
and instead of 4 flavors, “Whipps Cream” has 9. I think you guys are a little late, should change the slogan to the worlds 2nd Alcohlic whipped cream.

  4. Drink man says:

Sorry Mr. Vegas, “whipps creamis” is not infused whith alocohol until you infuse it. “Whipped Lightning” is truley the first alocohol infused whipped cream, and it is All NATURAL!!!!!

I m on your side Mr vegas. Whipped lightening is crap compared to whipps now called Cream. Good Luck with the possible 2 states that you may have while Cream has well over 20 already. I can say this do to the fact that I ve tried both. Also do to the fact that my 2 friends are the owners of Whipps now Cream!. Nothing to say!! Point made. Try Cream and you will understand

  9. Miller says:

  11. Drink man says:

It’s funny you say that cream is in 20 states when they DO NOT have ANY fedral lable or forumla approval!! all public info.

  12. James says:

Well Miller, I doubt that you know either the owners of Whipps Cream or Cream, or you would have your facts straight. Whipps Cream is a kit that we as bar owners added our own alcohol to, and “Whipps Cream” I believe, was in about 20 states or so, including here in NH. However, “CREAM” is a totally different product, which is still slated for for its initial launch. Get your facts straight before you decide to make yourself look like an ass.
