Kuroshio’s 1 Year Anniversary Sushibration!*

DrinkPlanner on Jul-31-2008

Time flies, doesn’t it?  It seems like just yesterday we were first writing about our pals at Kuroshio and their drink deals.  Now we turn around, and our little baby boy is one year old.  We look back fondly at the little sushi joint infant once crawling around eating Cheerios off the floor, but Kuroshio has grown up to be quite the big boy in the community, throwing down some of the best fried rice I’ve ever had not to mention fantastic sushi and consistently solid drink deals.  So congratulations Kuroshio! May your chicken fried rice reign supreme forever, your sushi be the freshest around, and your sake be the life of many more parties to come!

To celebrate, Kuroshio will be throwing down a 1 Year Anniversary Event like no other this Friday, August 1st. There will be free prizes given away and HALF OFF their ENTIRE BAR! Yes, sushi and booze fans, your beers, sakes and wines are all half price this Friday.  Thanks Kuroshio!

*Yes, I realize that I just consciously created and unleashed upon the internets the word “Sushibration”.  I’m not proud of myself.

Drink Special: $3 Sake Tour Lead By Actual Sake Master

DrinkPlanner on Apr-22-2008

We’ve written about our sushi-making friends over at Kuroshio before, and I just got wind of another fine deal worth passing on. This Thursday, April 24th they’ll have a certified Sake Master (or Tōji) there from 6pm-8pm to give you the scoop on numerous glasses of premium sake. All for only $3. If you’ve never been to a booze tasting before, I highly recommend it, as it really helps you gain a new appreciation for the stuff even if you’ve been drinking it for years. And if you haven’t, it turns you on to new and exciting ways to get blasted. Everyone wins!

Following the tour they’ll be hosting a comedy show from 8pm-10pm. While I’ve never heard of any of the people featured, they all look funny, so I guess that’s a plus (minus Brooke Cochrane, who looks mighty cute [Editor's note: Still a plus]). The best part? Due to Cobb county’s backwards happy-hour/drink special laws, they’ll be featuring a $3 sake tour special all day. So you might as well sit around and oggle Brooke laugh your ass off and drink sake for a few more hours on the cheap.

Bonus Drink Special!: They’ll also be featuring $1.50 Miller Lite pints.

And as always…tell ‘em DrinkPlanner sent ya!

UPDATE* I just got word that Kuroshio is now carrying Dogfish Head’s 90 Minute IPA! If you haven’t had this fantastic super-hopped craft beer before, it’s quite the treat. Not only that, but they’re selling the bottles in the $5-5.50 range (I wasn’t able to nail down an exact price) while most places are selling them in the $7-7.75 range.

Featured Drink Spot: Kuroshio

DrinkPlanner on Oct-10-2007

Right off the bat, straight out of the park, we serve you up a winner (we’re pros, trust us). Kuroshio is the newest sushi spot to set up shop in Kennesaw, and in our humble opinion, we think they’re a winner. We saddled up to the table there for a few hours, and besides the unnumbered near-free $1.50 Miller Light drafts we managed to slam down, the sushi they served up was something to behold. The atmosphere in Kuroshio is actually pretty classy (for us, anyway), but with a comfortable feel. And the staff is so friendly and downright welcoming that you feel immediately at home shoving Crazy Rolls and Ahi Poki sashimi down your throat between generous gulps of sake.

Oh yeah, the sake. We’re not entirely sure how many kinds we sampled, or even which one was our favorite, but we MUST recommend the selection at Kuroshio. If you’ve never tried it, give it a shot (or twelve) before dismissing it. If you’ve had it and maybe weren’t sure if it was for you, the DrinkPlanner staff highly recommends the wide selection of cold premium sakes to whet your whistle. I mean, you can stick with the plain old beer, if you’re going to be a crybaby about it. But once you’re settled in, you’ll probably be drinking both. We certainly did.

So check out Kuroshio, they’ve got a damn fine collection of high-octane beverages, and some sushi (not to mention some of the best fried rice this writer has ever come across) that could very well knock your socks off.  Clean.  Off. Tell ‘em DrinkPlanner sent ya.
